Now Offering Equine Assisted Therapy Sessions ~Shannon Gordon, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor

My pathway to a career in counselling began at the Justice Institute of B.C. in 2011, where I took several courses offered through the Centre for Conflict Resolution. I was amazed by how the skills I acquired changed my life and how I communicate with others. I was also deeply moved by how open people were about trying to incorporate these skills into their own lives.

In 2015, I began my studies at Vancouver College of Counsellor Training, where I learned about different counselling theories and how to use them.  In 2016, I stumbled upon an amazing organization, Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS) in Vancouver, and I enrolled in their Violence Prevention and Intervention Program.  The program challenged me to reassess some of my beliefs, and I continue to learn a great deal from the brilliant woman who work there, as well as the ones who access its services.  I started volunteering on the BWSS Crisis Line and volunteered as a counsellor there for 2.5 years.

I have been practicing at Fort Langley Massage Therapy & Holistic Health since May 2019.  I offer individual and couples counselling and just recently have added an Equine Assisted Therapy Session as well. I’m excited to announce I have teamed up with Krista Brown of Wisteria Acres Wellness & Retreats, to offer an Equine Assisted Therapy session that combines both of our services.

I first learned about the services offered at Wisteria Acres Wellness & Retreats this past summer.  I was interested in the therapeutic opportunity created by Krista, her horses and the beautiful setting.  After personally working with Krista in the summer we began talking about how we could create a session that could incorporate what we both do and I am happy to say we offered our first Equine Assisted Therapy session at the beginning of January. Krista is a certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator and also a

certified Professional Life & Leadership Coach.  She has been offering Equine services at Wisteria Acres Wellness & Retreats for the past 10 years, just minutes from Fort Langley.  You can find out more about Krista, her horses and the services offered at Wisteria Acres Wellness & Retreats at https://wisteriaacres.com/ To learn more about our Equine Assisted Therapy sessions, I invite you to connect with Krista or myself.
